What’s up with this “do not reply to this email” thingy!

While reading Sam Hastings’ Blog today, I came across a rant he had made there — Do not reply to this email.
Even I agree that this thing sucks! Well, the most common justification given for this is that the number of bounces because of invalid emails that you can get can make things really messy.
Haven’t these people heard of filtering rules? Or, perhaps they could use autoresponders to tell people to send the message to some other address.
Hey folks, what if I tell ya that you might very well be losing clients cos of this one folly. And, making your contact information hard to find is oh so unusable. Don’t forget that internet is made of humans only, not bots!
