3 SEO Techniques for SEO Dinosaurs
Posted on 02 January 2008 by DeanHunt
The world of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is fast moving and the rules can change on a regular basis. So today we are going to look at 3 SEO techniques that if you use in 2008 will make you look like an SEO dinosaur.

Reciprocal Links
There was a time when hours of pain staking link trading was required to rank well. It was a time where swapping links was seen as the norm. But in 2007 Google has started slapping sites that still rely on this tactic. So get with the times, and stop relying on link trades.
Buying Text Link Ads
2007 was certainly the year that buying text links became mainstream. But it ended with the industry crashing as quickly as it was created. Millions of websites lost their much treasured PageRank because they were selling links, and although the buying and selling of links still occurs, it is quickly becoming another SEO dinosaur.
Directory Links
Directory links have been a huge hit for the past decade, but in 2007 Google slapped a huge amount of directories, especially the lower quality ones.
If you are still using any of these dated techniques on a regular basis, then it may be worth re-considering your SEO strategy for 2008.

Carol,
I am getting my info from authority sources like this one: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-handle-a-google-penalty-and-an-example-from-the-field-of-real-estate
That was based on ACTUAL case studies.
Where are you getting yours from?

There is definitely nothing wrong with Link Exchanges, provided thats not your only method for acquiring links. I personally use BLOGs, Forums, Directories, and Link Exchanges. Cheers.
