ShotCode - The Future of Offline Advertising
Posted on 30 October 2007 by DeanHunt
When I first heard about Shotcode, I thought it was a prank. But upon further investigation, I believe Shotcode may be onto something huge, something that may open up a whole new avenue of offline advertising.
Have a look at this image:

With Shotcode, all you would have to do is take a photo of the image to activate it. It is of course to be used on PDAs, Phones etc…
This image acts like a type of barcode, and the system would recognise it, and send you to the specific website.
So, for example, you are at the bus stop and you want to know when the next bus will arrive… simple, you take a photo of the logo at the bus stop, and it takes you to the page with the bus times for that stop. Or, you have a billboard ad for a new fragrance, you take a photo of the ad, and it takes you to the page to signup for a free sample.
In terms of offline marketing, this could be huge. If not a little scary at first, the possibilities are almost endless, and like all new technology, it will develop and improve with time.
I would love to hear your thoughts on ShotCode… a new fad? Or whole new way of doing offline ads?
