Send Me Your Flagshit Content

Posted on 23 July 2007 by DeanHunt

I recently read that Chris Garrett is asking people to send him their flagship content.

The concept is that you can send him your flagship content, and he will post a few of them on his site.

But let’s be honest… aren’t we sick of flagship content? All those tutorials, how-to guides, top 10 lists, step by step guides… deep down it is the flagshit content that we are all secretly most proud of.

So what is Flagshit content?

Well, it is a word I just invented. But to me, it means any content that is created because you couldn’t think of anything genuine to write about. So instead, you posted a few jokes, or a picture of a cat with a machine gun, a pointless rant, a post you wrote when you were drunk etc…

Flagshit content is the stuff that relieves our boredom, it is the stuff we spend hours looking at when we should be working. I believe flagshit content is secretly the content that drives all blogs.

The ugly brother of flagship content often goes un-rewarded. So this is my campaign to promote your flagshit content.

Simply email Dean at contact@deanhunt.com and send him links to your favorite flagshit content. He will make a gallery of the content that you were too embarrassed to submit to Digg.com – This will get your flagshit content mentioned on one of the nets leading marketing blogs, and will give the world an opportunity to see what lurks in the dark corners of your blog.

So open your email account, get searching for your grubbiest flagshit content, and together we can celebrate the content that we all secretly love.

This is a viral video from Youtube that is getting a lot of attention.

I will let the author set the scene:

It was back in Oct 2005.

My wedding was about a month to go and I decided to make a memorable event for my future wife. But, I and she were working and due to preparation of wedding, I didn’t have enough budgets for expensive proposal. While I was considering for the event, I remembered what she said in the past. “Wow it would be great if I can get a chance to go in the room with full of yellow post it just like Sang Sang Plus” (Sang Sang Plus is one of the famous talk show (TV program) in Korea and they prepare a room with full of yellow post it – questions from fans to famous celebrity)

I wrote all the happy memories that I had with my wife in 5,940 post it. It took me 4 days & 5 nights to write everything and post it in the bathroom. (I tried main living room first, but, due to surface of wallpaper, I had to change the place) Once we back from honeymoon, we took all the post it off and kept it in the box until now.
