Bangladeshis accuse telcos of corrupting their kids by offering free ‘late-night calls’.

I really can’t decide if I should be laughing my a*s off over this news or be shocked. But one thing that I am really sure about is that this is stupid.
Some cellphone companies in Bangladesh, which were trying to hook in new customers — mainly youngsters — by offering free late-night calls, have been ordered by the Bangladesh Telecom watchdog to immediately stop offering this scheme.
Reason? Some parents complained to the telecom authorities that, because of this offer, children were losing sleep and some indulged in “vulgar talk”.
The phone companies say that they are surprised by the order. Don’t worry fellas, you are not alone. Even I am surprised by it.
One spokesman said if the authorities wish to stop young people meeting each other, by the same logic, fast food restaurants and universities should be shut down, too.
Telecom Authorities: Do you realize that you are tarnishing the image of your country as an investment destination by taking stupid decisions like these?
While this exact decision may not harm you directly but it is going to make people think twice about how you may handle things of more importance.
Parents: Learn how to raise your kids the right way. Let me tell you a secret of life - you can never get anyone to do anything unless they want to do it themself.
By trying to use iron-fist tactics to stop your kids from romancing you are in-fact encouraging them to do more of it. This is a psychological fact that the more scarce something is, the more is the desire to get it.
If you want to bend them to your way of life, make them want to follow your way of life by getting to themselves believe that this is the right thing for them.
That’s the only tactic that will not turn out to be futile.
