Rich Dad Poor Dad

Posted on 28 May 2007 by DeanHunt

Do you believe in fate?

I believe that someone or something wants me to read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T Kiyosaki.

Early this morning a close friend of mine contacted me on MSN and was telling me a story about his business, he then quoted Rich Dad Poor Dad and told me I should read it.

This afternoon I was reading through a blog and I saw a mention of this book in a blog post.

Spooky.

But ten minutes ago I was reading through a forum post on Copywriting techniques… can you guess what the thread starter posted?

“In his book, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, Mr Kiyosaki talks about how the Mc Donalds Corporation isn’t in the food business… They’re in the real estate business.

When you run a business and have it sitting on real estate property, you are building a real estate investment, but instead of you personally paying for the property, all of your customers are paying the mortgage for you.

If you haven’t read the book, do yourself a favor a get it… fantastic read.”

What are the chances? Three mentions in one day.

I am not a religious person, and I am not 100% sure I believe in fate, but you can be damn sure I am buying this book. In fact, I just purchased it as an eBook.

Tonight I will shun my trusty xbox 360 controller, and I will instead reach for my reading glasses, I will dive head first into what should be a literary delight, and in the coming days I will share my tales of joy or sorrow.

If you have already read Rich Dad Poor Dad, then please email me with your opinion. (admin@streetlessons.com)

Gracias.

Dean

This book is on my must read list. Although, it’s kind of funny to say that now because it has been so long and there are so many other great books that seem to apply more directly to the way I do business these days. It was, however, the book that started it all for me. It changed my mindset forever. From what I have read from you online, it probably won’t be anything earth-shattering for you. But it would be good to know what all the buzz is about.

    Jason,

Thanks for the comment. I have heard good things about you as well.

I have read 20 pages thus far, and I am impressed. I believed in many of the principles without realising that it is what I believed. However, I would say that my business partner is the expert when it comes to investing and money.

It will definitely be a worth while read, though you might be a bit past the knowledge it gives. It was one of the most influential books I read as an employee and I can give it full credit for being the book that lead to my quitting my job and becoming an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, sounds pretentious somehow, the top book I recommend is ‘The 4 hour Work Week’ by Tim Ferriss. Tim’s book has been the biggest influence SINCE owning my own businesses.

This is a viral video from Youtube that is getting a lot of attention.

I will let the author set the scene:

It was back in Oct 2005.

My wedding was about a month to go and I decided to make a memorable event for my future wife. But, I and she were working and due to preparation of wedding, I didn’t have enough budgets for expensive proposal. While I was considering for the event, I remembered what she said in the past. “Wow it would be great if I can get a chance to go in the room with full of yellow post it just like Sang Sang Plus” (Sang Sang Plus is one of the famous talk show (TV program) in Korea and they prepare a room with full of yellow post it - questions from fans to famous celebrity)

I wrote all the happy memories that I had with my wife in 5,940 post it. It took me 4 days & 5 nights to write everything and post it in the bathroom. (I tried main living room first, but, due to surface of wallpaper, I had to change the place) Once we back from honeymoon, we took all the post it off and kept it in the box until now.
