Are you interested? You should be!
The Story
Joshua Bell is one of the worlds greatest classical musicians. He has performed in front of kings, presidents and millions of people have paid a small fortune to see this prodigy play.
*So what has Joshua got to do with making money?*
*Here is the best part*
With the moral from this story you can send your sales sky rocketing, you will know how to tap into your consumers desires, and you will get noticed a LOT more than your competitors.
Back to the story
Joshua recently did an incredible experiment where he busked for 45 minutes in the lobby of L’Enfant Plaza (Washington). What happened next will amaze you…..
In total a whopping 1,097 people passed Joshua, during this 45 minute period he played classical music that has been described by some experts as….. “the reason for living”.
But incredibly, of those 1,097 people only 27 gave any money.
What makes this even more amazing is that the violin he used that morning was bought for $3.5 million.
So why is it that people are willing to pay $100 per seat to see this famous musician, but on the streets of Washington 1,070 people didn’t even bother to even make eye contact with him?
What is the morale of this story? And how can you apply this new found knowledge to your business?

Ok, I’ll bite….I think it has to do with “selling the sizzle” of Joshua Bell in a concert hall. If the product (his glorious music) is too easily obtainable, or is delivered scattershot to people who aren’t shopping for it (buying a pricey ticket and showing up at the hall), then it’s elevator music.
This is the reason my company dosen’t do a kisok in the local mall–part of our product is our exclusiveness and our beautiful location. Our customers bother to drive here because we’re a special interest kind of business, we know our product and we have WAY cool stuff.
(Ok, that’s #1)

Branding & Presentation. Branding because they did not know who he was. And presentaion becaause in their minds they probaby thought of him as just another broke artist that missed the success boat.

People are ignorant and need to be told what’s hot, what they need to buy, what they need to see, where they need to be. one word… CONFORMITY

marketing, advertising. He can sell a ticket for small fortunes if people know its happening. You also have to take into consideration the venue. The larger the venue the more recognition the artist has - therefore : people know about it and pay. That vs. someone on the street… no advertising, nothing fancy: doesn’t really give results. The morale of the story: stand out somehow. be remembered. sell yourself.
