If you don’t do it now, you probably never will.

So yesterday was a blog-drafts-cleanup day for me. Wow! I couldn’t believe that I still had some post drafts since I started this blog. Leave aside finishing and publishing them, I actually never even worked on them!
Moral of the story - If you don’t have the urge of doing something now and finishing it as soon as possible, you probably will never finish it.
Well, one excellent way to avoid falling into will-do-later trap is to follow David Allen’s Two-Minute rule from his excellent book : Getting things done.
This is how the two minute rule works. Whenever you are faced with a task to do, see if that task can be done within two minutes. If yes, do it right there and then.
If that task can’t be done in two minutes, then break it down into simpler tasks. If each of those tasks can be done in two minutes, do it then otherwise break it down again into sub-tasks!
Yeah it would need some intelligent decisions on your part and some smart task management. David talks about it in his book, which I highly recommend that you read.
It works on everything — books, reports and, yeah, blog posts too. I was able to finish this post yesterday using this method only and this method is just magic.
If only I was practicing this method since I started working.
But well, you learn as you move on.
