They have talked about Getting Real. They have always hated it when companies become complex and making decisions becomes more bureaucratic. However, Chicago based 37Signals — the company behind TaDa Lists, BackPack etc. — has fallen to the temptation of big VC money and have accepted investment from Jeff Bezos, founder of the online retailing giant Amazon, through his Bezos Expeditions fund.
So, why did they bite the apple? In their own words –
What we’ve been looking for is the wisdom of a very special entrepreneur who’s been through what we’re going through. Someone who sees things a little differently and makes us feel right at home. Someone with a long term outlook, not a build-to-flip mentality. We found a perfect match in Jeff. Jeff is our kinda guy.
Perfect reason guys!
Heck, if I had this sort of opportunity in front of me, even I would go in for it no matter how much I hate running public companies.
