Here’s the big deal boys! [AKA : My Top Secret plan for Street Lessons]
Posted on 14 July 2006 by Lord Brar
So by now you must have observed that I have tweaked the skin of StreetLessons a notch (if you haven’t the chances are that your browser has a cached version of my old stylesheet, in that case press Ctrl + F5 at the same time).
Apart from further revenue optimization, this is a step forward in the realization of my vision which I had when I started this blog.
Let’s be clear - this blog is not my real business (thankfully, my real business makes me many times over than what this blog makes yet… and I’d actually want it this way only) even though I do very much treat it just as another business of mine.
When I started in business, I needed some help — a mentor, if you may. So, I tried to find a few. Bingo! I couldn’t believe the zillions of people out there trying to help me out.
This was Utopia! So I thought, back then.
Very soon I realized that those I thought to be people who I could look on to for advice were not the uber-success-stories that they projected themselves to be but rather snake-oil salesmen.
You guessed it right — following their advice, I was very soon banging my head in wall. What they claimed to be tried-and-trusted methods for online success were fluff-ideas from top of their heads.
The whole of my life I have been a Street Smart i.e. I have always gotten my degrees from the school of Hard Knocks! Now I knew that it was going to be the same in here too.
In India there is a saying — if someone gets lost in the morning but finds his way back home in evening then he isn’t called lost. In other words, if you correct your mistake then that is as good as not making the mistake.
So there I was — getting my hands wet, trying out every idea that popped in my head while adopting what worked and trashing what didn’t. Well, I am still doing it and keep doing it forever.
When I started this blog, my idea was to share with you the lessons that I learnt on the street — where you are on your own and have to fight to survive… otherwise, tough luck.
Hence this name — StreetLessons.com.
Yes, I wanted to share with you the lessons that I learnt on the street. Rather than tell you how you can do it, I wanted to tell you How I did it.
I can’t really say that I drifted from this basic-idea since I started this blog. But I do confess that I was not covering the stuff in a newbie friendly way.
So here we are — My new Top Secret plan for StreetLessons.com. From now on, I am going to be covering a lot-lot more content aimed at those who are new to Internet Business.
My main focus audience would be those who are aiming to make a living on the Internet and small and medium businesses who want to make Internet another channel to do business.
I will be covering more How-Tos of things.
Aaah, I know it sounds confusing right now but you will see.
That said, I must repeat that this is rather a blog about my entrepreneurship journey. So yeah you will not find this turning into a complete-basics-only thing but rather I would be packaging more advanced stuff in such a way that it is both newbie friendly as well as interesting and useful for those will some Internet business experience.
Makes sense? Well, since I believe in doing rather than saying — just stay tuned.
So anyway, that was how I can claim this design to be an extension of my original vision. Now on to more specifics of this “upgrade” –
1. Better structure of content organization.
Basically, there will be five main things we’d be covering — Internet business, Internet marketing, search engines, life hacking (the art of improving your efficiency… especially as an entrepreneur) and stories of success that you can take inspiration from.
2. A “brand spankin’ new” newsletter.
Yeah I know that the forms don’t work. But I am working on setting up the backend and would be announcing how you can signup in another post.
Oh BTW when you signup, I will also send you a very special report titled 7 Habits of Highly Successful Internet Entrepreneurs — Absolutely Free. Stay tuned!
3. Yeah baby! A link to my Wishlist.
Uhm. If you want to send me a gift to show your appreciation for the work that I do here, you would now know what I would love to get as a gift. :)Thanks for caring about me.
4. Complete How-To Guides.
The big deal! Since most of the posts about a topic are cluttered here and there, so I am going to do the hard work for you and organize them in a structured format in shape of these how-to guides.
Rather than explain what they are going to be I’d rather make one and show it to you. Stay tuned!
5. StreetLessons Mailbag!
You can send me your specific questions and I’d try to answer them on this blog. The address is lord@lordbrar.com.
Success is not a destination but rather a journey — and this “upgrade” was just a relatively-large milestone. I am sure that this site will keep evolving for good.
If you are reading this post, you are most probably an Internet Entrepreneur and have an interest in making money from the Internet.
In that case, I’d want to share with you a poem that I must have read literally hundreds of times and it never filed to inspire me. Here we go –
Victory by Herbert Kauffman
You are the man who used to boast
That you’d achieve the uttermost
Some day.You merely wished a show,
To demonstrate how much you know
And prove the distance you can go…Another year we’ve just passed through.
What new ideas came to you?How many big things did you do?
Time… left twelve fresh months in your care
How many of them did you share
With opportunity and dare
Again where you so often missed? We do not find you on the list of Makers Good.
Explain the fact!
Ah no ’twas not the chance you lacked! As usual — you failed to act!
I’d request, no beg and plead that you spare some time and think about the deep meaning of these words. I credit these few lines for keeping me going even when I was feeling flat out and things seemed impossible to move.
Until next time, Rock on!
